That pain you felt and feel will pass
Living through it and finding it did not cripple or kill you
You’ll look back some day and think with a laugh,
“Ah but those were the GOOD OLD DAYS!

The times you wanted to kill yourself about something,
That something will pass or passed and since you lived
And were not incarcerated in a mental hospital for life,
You’ll look back some day and think shaking your head and maybe laughing,
“Ah but those were the GOOD OLD DAYS!”

Those girls and women that rejected you or you stupidly lost them
Then Raged and screamed about it,
Writing terrible poems about it
Some day you’ll look back on it squirming in embarrassment
Wondering what the hell you were thinking,
Laugh at yourself and think,
“Ah but those were the GOOD OLD DAYS!”

All those times you were sick and whining about it
Injured wondering if you would live through it
Looking back since you LIVED THROUGH IT
You will grind your teeth,
Grin and grimace at Life,
Maybe whisper, “you sonafabitch you tried to kill me but didn’t!
I FUCKING LIVED!
Then smile smugly thinking,
“Ah but those were the GOOD OLD DAYS!”

Some day past Selves,
You’ll look back on all the pains that you never thought you would live through,
Cripple you
Or drive you mad
Have moments of mad laughter
Seeing how much you lived and learned
Then raise a glass to Life
And gratefully whisper…
“Ah but those were the GOOD OLD DAYS!”
